Tucson, Arizona, Dec 14 & 15th.
Tucson Expo 3750 E Irvington Rd.
1. Bring a gun. Preferably, bring at least two guns. Bring all your friends who have guns.
2. Anything worth shooting is worth shooting twice. Ammo is cheap-- Life is expensive.
3. Only hits count. The only thing worst than a miss is a slow miss.
4. If your shooting stance is good, you're probably not moving fast enough or using cover correctly.
5. Move away from your attacker. Distance is your friend. (Lateral & diagonal movements are preferred.)
6. If you can choose what to bring to a gunfight, bring a long gun and a friend with a long gun.
7. In ten years nobody will remember the details of caliber, stance, or tactics. They will only remember who lived.
8. If you are not shooting, you should be communicating, reloading, and running.
9. Accuracy is relative, most combat shooting standards will be more dependent on "pucker factor" than the inherent accuracy of the gun. Use a gun that works EVERY TIME. "All skill is in vain when an Angel blows the powder from the flintlock of your musket."
10. Someday someone may kill you with your own gun, but they should have to beat you to death with it because it's empty.
11. Always cheat, always win. The only unfair fight is the one you lose.
12. Have a plan.
13. Have a back-up plan, because the first one won't work.
14. Use cover or concealment as much as possible.
15. Flank your adversary when possible. Protect yours.
16. Don't drop your guard.
17. Always tactical reload and threat scan 360 degrees.
18. Watch their hands. Hands kill. (In GOD we trust. Everyone else, keep your hands where I can see them.)
19. Decide to be aggressive ENOUGH, quickly ENOUGH.
20. The faster you finish the fight, the less shot you will get.
21. Be polite. Be professional. But, have a plan to kill everyone you meet.
22. Be courteous to everyone, friendly to no one.
23. Your number one option for personal security is a lifelong commitment to avoidance, deterrence, and de-escalation.
24. Do not attend a gunfight with a handgun, the caliber of which does not start with anything smaller than "4".
25. You can't miss fast enough to win.
Summary of Arizona Gun Laws
Arizona is a shall-issue, permitless carry state with concealed weapons permits issued at the state level by the Department of Public Safety.
There is no permit, background check or firearms registration required when buying a handgun from a private individual. A purchaser must be at least 18 years old to buy a gun from a private individual. The minimum age to purchase a handgun from a federally licensed dealer is 21.
Open carry is legal in Arizona for any person who is at least 18 years old and who can legally possess a firearm. Some areas are off-limits, including schools and liquor stores that have posted “no weapons” signs.
Anyone at least 21 years old who can legally possess a firearm, may concealed carry a firearm without a permit. Arizona Concealed Weapons Permits (CWP) are issued to residents and non-residents at least 21 years old or 19 for active military and veterans and require a firearms training course that has been state-approved, although there are training exemptions that may apply to law enforcement and members of the military, to name a few. In terms of reciprocity, since Arizona has permitless carry, any person 21 years of age and older who can legally possess a firearm may carry a concealed firearm on his or her person without a license or permit.
Arizona is a Castle Doctrine state and state laws effectively allow people to stand their ground. There is no duty to retreat before defending yourself if you are in a place where you may legally be and you are not engaged in an unlawful act.
Use of Force
A person is justified in threatening or using physical force when and to the extent a reasonable person would believe that physical force is immediately necessary to protect himself or a third party against the other’s use or attempted use of unlawful physical force..

A person is justified in threatening or using physical force or deadly force against another:
Use of Physical Force in Defense of Premises
A person in lawful possession or control of premises is justified in threatening to use physical force when and to the extent that a reasonable person would believe it immediately necessary to prevent or terminate criminal trespass in or upon the premises. A person may use deadly force only in the defense of himself or a third person.
“Premises” means any real property and any structure — movable or immovable, permanent or temporary — adapted for both human residence and lodging whether occupied or not.
Use of Physical Force in Defense of Property
A person is justified in using physical force when and to the extent that a reasonable person would believe it necessary to prevent theft or criminal damage involving tangible movable property. A person may use deadly force only in the defense of himself or a third person.

Rocky Davis, Weapon Master, Firearm Instructor Rocky began teaching with Chuck Taylor at ASAA and the original 'American Pistol Institute' known as Gunsite in Paulden, Az., under Col Jeff Cooper. He has worked as a Military Contractor training Elite Military Units Worldwide, Law Enforcement Officers, and Civilians for 45 years.
After being blown up by an IED in 2010, burned over 40% of his body, suffering a traumatic brain injury, and in a coma for 23 days. Rocky had many surgeries to rebuild his broken body, he has found his purpose as a resiliency coach for military vets as well as civilian burn victims.
I got my Arizona CCW Permit in 14 Days... I got more then I paid for..!

This IS a small World... Last week I attend the Phoenix Gun Show at the Arizona Fairgrounds, and lo & behold I see a man I will never forget in my life, his name is Rocky Davis. Back in the early '80's I was required to train by my department with a Vietnam Veteran brother of mine named Chuck Taylor. Chuck had this kid named Rocky as his assistant, During the class Rocky was giving instruction in back of the firing line, while Chuck was running the class. I remember this kid being respectful and proficient in his work. Chuck talked about the importance of a "Fast draw to first round hitting an attacker," he had Rocky demonstrate a draw to hitting the target within one second. I have to say I was impressed by this kids speed and accuracy. Now 40 years later seeing Rocky again, I asked "Rock, can you still draw and hit the target in under a second..?" With a smile he says; "You really want to find out..? Rob B. LEO Retired 9/22
I'm a retired LEO. After 30 years in Law Enforcement- I thought I knew just about all there was about Guns, Law, and Tactics. The Rock is so engaging and knowledgeable, I'm impressed and grateful for our time together. He was so compelling about getting purpose back in my life, about what he called "Spiritual Fitness", something I never expected from a gun class.

Rocky is Outstanding..! His knowledge is far superior to any other instructor I've ever met. His understanding of firearms, and the law makes his class extremely useful. I received my Arizona Concealed Weapon Permit in 12 days!!! Thanks Rock... You're the "BEST"!!!

Rocky is a wonderful teacher. He made us laugh, learn and be aware of the privilege and responsibility of using and owning a gun. He answered all our questions, walked us through how to find the right gun, helped us learn how to handle, load, carry and fire. He was personable and very easy to have as an instructor.

I'm not a gun-person. I wanted to take a gun safety and training class out of necessity...it just seems like something that I should have a basic knowledge of. So, I stopped into a gun shop and they recommended Rocky.
I did not expect to have such a good time an enjoy learning about gun safety so much. Rocky is a great guy, with an unbelievable amount of knowledge about weapons and safety. We had a great time and learned everything I wanted to know.
I highly recommend it.

Rocky is an awesome instructor. He is extremely knowledgeable and very compassionate about this field. His instructing technique is undoubtedly one of the best I have came across since retiring from the Army after 21 years of service. The class started at 8am breakfast was included in the class. (Thank you Rocky) After breakfast we started with introduction of everyone and what our backgrounds where and our skill level/experience was with firearms. While going through all the course material if you had a question he always said just go ahead and ask no matter what it is. The great part was even though he was going to cover what you was asking later in the class he would give a short answer so you don't have that feeling that he is shutting you down by saying we will cover that later and would always say we will go over it in more detail when we get to that portion of the class. Very professional! I highly recommend Rocky as an instructor. You CANNOT go wrong by taking this class!!

Rocky is the best instructor ever! There's a lot to say, i got recommended to him and my main concern was to get everything done by my birthday. No kidding he pulled through! The next class from an other instructor was weeks out. Ridiculous and they take up to 4-6 weeks to process. Rocky did it in 3-4 days. My main concern like others was that i had 2 jobs and had to schedule wisely.. Now that's what i was looking for, very efficient with managing time. In fact I was still unsure but he's sly. He didn't realized but he scheduled a class with me when I called him haha. Love it. Good thing that he did. My search for a credible instructor was over, from when I called him to getting my affidavit it went by so quick within a week! I made a yelp account just to give him 5 stars. He's not kidding when he says he'll be your life long instructor and friend, I got my affidavit by my 21st birthday it took less than a week to process it. It was quick. He gave me an amazing 1st impression when I met up with him for class. He's very knowledgeable and has a hardcore background with firearms and tactics. He first treated me to breakfast for the beginning of our course, talked over a cup of coffee, then we went to a gun shop. Regardless of how knowledgeable I am with firearms. He was able to point out my weak points with justifiable self defense. Went to the gun shop after he gave me his book he wrote on gun laws for free! (Great book btw) He teaches hands on just how I like it. Not some boring classroom. There was never a dull moment we got to talk a lot of stories and etc.. We're firm believers in the 2nd amendment. This guy has field experience on all types of level fighting enemies, foreign & domestic. This guy survived an explosion and actually have quick thinking to escape smart that he jumped in the shower. Then he showed me pictures of him in the e.r. and some funny one after he got out of rehab lmao! Priceless. I got more than what i paid for. He told me this story of how he died and they recorded him getting revived on film and how he was watching himself cheering on even though he already survived lol! My respect for him is very high. When it came to range time he had a nice variety of firearms to shoot, all quality guns. He gave me great advice to start shooting left hand since I'm left eye dominant. I think I did very well and impressed him. He had other means by taking out an "eye" and busted out his carry blade Lol. Love his sense of humor! Very out going and friendly, he did more then just instruct me, after the range he dropped me off at home, he even drove to me to drop off my affidavit when it finally arrived. I called with more questions and uncertainty. He ended answering everything and showed up at the police station to meet me and make sure I get everything done right! I hope I can repay his gratitude. HE IS A VERY HARDWORKER! I recommend him to everyone that's looking to get into firearms or to get their affidavit. This guy has learn things that we might never even experience in our lives! If I could give him more than 5 stars I'd make out the limit. 10 stars+ haha. Can't think of any cons cause there wasn't any. This is my experience alone ignoring the other reviews. Best part he makes you feel important and makes sure you know everything you should. Thanks Rocky!.

Until Rocky's class, I thought gun training was gun training and what a pain in the ass that would be.. Rocky's knowledge and real life approach to his training were not only incredibly valuable but incredibly engaging. If you have never fired a gun or if you have fired all guns ever made, you will learn something valuable from his class. A strong recommendation for his class and an A+ rating

I took the class with Rocky on May 21, and decided to hold off on leaving a review until I received my permit. I'm a firm believer in testing out a product or service before leaving a review. With that being said, yesterday I brought my new Glock 17 home so here is my review. Rocky's instructional period was full of useful information on storage, use of force, state laws, and was full of unique insight and real world experience. Rocky engaged every one of us in the conversation, he would ask us questions, and was able to answer any question we had. As far as the range time, I had a unique experience. I am left eye dominant, and Rocky challenged me to shoot lefty. I was apprehensive about this at first, but decided to give it a try. Over the last 11 years, every shotgun, rifle, or handgun I ever shot was fired from my right. I struggled through the first three mags shooting lefty, but after that I began hitting the 25 yard target more frequently. I was impressed. Rocky and his assistant, demonstrated different shooting techniques, and let us shoot different caliber pistols. Throughout the day they would point out any mistakes our group made, and correct them. They taught each student on an individual basis, and would find unique ways to challenge each shooter at their own skill level. This was the second hand gun safety class I have taken. I lost my original affidavit from a different instructor, and was told a replacement would cost me $75, so i decided that for $125 I would take a class from Rocky, and brush up on my knowledge, and hopefully correct any sloppy form I may have developed over the years. Overall, I thought the quality of instruction, insight, and professionalism displayed by Rocky was excellent. I left the class feeling comfortable shooting a hand gun either right or left handed, and any questions I had in regards to laws, transport, and storage were answered thoroughly, and accurately. I have and will continue to recommend this course to everyone I know who is interested in buying a handgun for self defense, competitive shooting, plinking, or Target shooting.
